President of Colombia returns to KU, receives Distinguished Alumni Award

Juan Manuel Santos, president of the Republic of Colombia, returned to his alma mater Sept. 24. Santos graduated from KU in 1973 with degrees in economics and business. 

During his visit, Santos received the Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award from the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, the highest honor the College bestows to graduates. Santos addressed a group of more than 500 people at the Robert J. Dole Institute of Politics. Santos also held an event with students in the Honors Program and held a news conference during his stay.
