
College Student Ambassadors
The College of Liberal Arts & Sciences Student Ambassadors are representatives of the College that aide in uplifting the College through supporting and engaging prospective students, families, guests, faculty, staff & alumni to provide personalized and meaningful experiences.
Position Information
Being a Student Ambassador is a great opportunity for current undergraduate students who want to gain leadership experience and network while growing personally & professionally by developing essential skills like communication, problem solving and adaptability.
College Student Ambassadors will work alongside the Recruitment & Outreach team to execute strategic recruitment & outreach initiatives. This is done through:
- aiding daily on & off campus visits
- participating in presentations
- serving on panels
- meeting with prospective students 1-on-1
- fielding any questions from students & their guests
- coordinating pre & post visit communications
- preparing visit & recruitment materials
- assisting with day-to-day operations like managing the recruitment phone line & email
Student Ambassadors will be expected to be the first line of contact while also serving as the point person to give support to faculty, staff, alumni & donors as needed for their own events.
To complement this, Ambassadors will receive benefits like promotional KU gear to wear during visits & events, as well as a scholarship awarded by the College for their service.
Requirements
- Current KU Student
- Enrolled full-time
- Pursuing major in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences
- Minimum 2.75 GPA
- Exposure and experience with various on-campus involvement (student groups, academic resources, research, study abroad, internships, on-campus jobs, etc.)
- Be comfortable speaking to prospective students in various settings (large events, student panels, 1-on-1s, etc.)
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills (or willingness to expand and foster them)
- Resourceful and able to adapt in various situations
- Must be reliable and punctual
- Be open-minded and willing to learn about various resources and structures within KU and the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences
